INDIA. New Delhi. There are more than 1.2 billion children in 186 countries affected by school closures due to the COVID-19 pandemic. With this rapid shift from the classroom in many parts of the world, there is speculation about online learning post-pandemic.

Before the pandemic, there was already high growth and acceptance of education technology, with comprehensive ed-tech investments reaching $18.66 billion in 2019 with anticipated growth of $350 Billion by 2025. Overview of the Education Industry. Along with many institutions, schools have moved to digital platforms to conduct online classes. With the rise in demand, various online learning platforms are offering a different set of education and services. BYJU’S, a Bangalore-based educational technology company founded in 2011, announced free live classes on its Think and Learn app. BYJU’S has observed a 200% rise in the number of new students using their product, according to Mrinal Mohit, the company’s Chief Operating Officer.

Meanwhile, Tinkerly, a STEM (Science & Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) online-offline solutions provider, is making learning fun and interesting and also promoting practical employment skills The company helps schools set up STEM Labs and empowers kids at home with STEM Educational Toys including first of its kind AI/ML proprietary toys.

In an interview with Transcontinental Times, Mr. Vivek Pathak, Co-Founder & MD of Tinkerly said, “Digital Learning is going to disrupt the complete education market. The infrastructure of the Indian subcontinent is growing rapidly and will help to offer a solution for all the schools to give a better education and enhanced services which will moreover create a superior ecosystem.”

Pathak believes “teachers should also be exposed to new technologies which can help them to teach in an enhanced manner.”

Effectiveness of Digital Learning. Online learning has been on the increase in the recent past. Students can fit online activities around their existing tasks can engage at times that are most convenient to them. They can easily log in to virtual classes from the comfort of their own home. Finally, participation rates are higher with online learning. It seems that while online learning was already being integrated into classrooms across the world, education of the future will likely become even more virtual in the coming decades.
