NIGERIA. Niger State: The passengers of the Niger state mass transit who were kidnapped one week ago have been released.

They were released on Sunday evening at about 5 pm.

The passengers were kidnapped last week Sunday when they were returning from Kontagora to Minna.

40 of the passengers were kidnapped.

The Niger state Governor, Alhaji Abubakar Sani Bello announced the release on his Twitter page at about on Sunday.

The passengers were released after a renowned Islamic Scholar, Sheikh Ahmad Gumi met with the bandits in the forest.
