Dekho ApnaDesh Campaign Post COVID-19

Ministry of Tourism, India is getting active post COVID-19 and organising, supporting, and introducing different tourism promotion events under Dekho ApnaDesh Campaign.

INDIA: Pandemic COVID-19 is on its way out as more and more vaccines are getting approved. India marches into the second phase of the vaccination drive and now it’s the turn of senior citizens to get vaccinated. People are also getting relaxed now and fortunately many are now venturing out for family vacation as well as for business outings. Ministry of Tourism, India and its field offices in India are also getting active and are organising, supporting, and introducing different tourism promotion events under Dekho ApnaDesh Campaign, thereby showcasing various tourism events, and products with an aim to create awareness among the stakeholders and citizens. In this context, various tourism offices across the country are also actively participating.

Ministry of Tourism’s India Tourism Kochi Office, in association with Kerala Homestays and Tourism Society (HATS), did a good job by bringing 54 homestays / B&B unit owners from Kochi and neighbouring districts at a workshop for sensitizing their properties. Under the Dekho ApnaDesh Campaign, the workshop also imparted information on NIDHI (National Integrated Database of Hospitality Industry) &SAATHI (System for Assessment, Awareness & Training for Hospitality Industry) certifications which have been introduced for the hospitality industry.

The department also supported the 13th edition of the week-long festival cultural extravaganza of Ulsavam in association with District Tourism Promotion Council Ernakulam, with the intent of reviving the intangible cultural heritage of Kerala. The festival, inaugurated by the Mayor, Cochin Corporation, showcased 28 art forms of Kerala, and around 200 artists participated.

Ministry of Tourism’s India Tourism Bengaluru office also organised a Domestic Tourism Road Show in Bengaluru on 22nd February 2021 under the Dekho ApnaDesh Campaign initiative to showcase Buddhist Circuits and pilgrimage destinations in Uttar Pradesh which has a lot of potentials. During the roadshow various Tour Operators from Buddhist Inbound Tourism Fraternity (BITF) Uttar Pradesh interacted with Karnataka Travel Agents / Tour Operators.

Ministry of Tourism’s India Tourism, Mumbai Office under the Dekho ApnaDesh Campaign, participated in the recently held India International Travel Mart (IITM) at Pune from 23-24 February 2021. During the Travel Mart, varied tourism products of India were showcased. This incidentally was the 2nd exhibition in the Western Region that happened in physical mode after unlocking of destinations.

Ministry of Tourism’s India Tourism Hyderabad and Varanasi offices jointly organised the “Visit Uttar Pradesh” Roadshow on 24 February 2021 in Hyderabad under Dekho Apna Desh. 17 travel trade representatives from Buddhist Inbound Tourism Fraternity (BITF) participated in the Raod show with Travel Trade from Telangana and Andhra Pradesh.

Ministry of Tourism’s India Tourism Delhi Office did their bit by taking 70 Regional Level Guides (RLGs) on a field trip cum Boosting of Moral to Sundar Nursery. Regional Director briefed them about the Ministry of Tourism initiative in promoting domestic tourism and RLGs also shared their experience. A quiz contest on the life of Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose was also organised for them.

Workshop on River Tourism was organized by the Ministry of Tourism’s Indiatourism, Guwahati on 22 February 2021. The workshop was attended by 35 stakeholders and emphasised the importance of River Cruises / Cruise Tourism in the North-East Region and in India.
