Bomb Blast Kills Religious Scholar In Afghanistan

The incident happened at around 1:30 pm after the bomb attached to Abdul-Samad Mohammadi’s car, went off, killing him and wounding three of his colleagues

AFGHANISTAN. Takhar: Mawlawi Abdul Samad Mohammadi, head of Takhar Ulema Council, was killed and three others were wounded this afternoon in a magnetic bomb blast. The incident happened in the Taloqan city of Takhar in northeastern Afghanistan, Takhar police said.

No group including the Taliban has yet claimed the responsibility for the blast.

The incident happened at around 1:30 pm after the bomb attached to Abdul-Samad Mohammadi’s car, went off, killing him and wounding three of his colleagues, said Khalil Asir, the spokesman for Takhar police.

He called the incident an act of “Terrorism”, and the “Taliban and Islam’s enemies.”

Another bomb blast occurred around 1:00 pm in a cart in the Bandar-e-Koloft area of Balkh province. Two civilians, including one child, were killed, and 16 others were wounded, said Adil Shah Adil, a spokesman for the provincial governor. 

“The wounded have been taken to the hospital for treatment and most of them were wounded slightly,” Adil added. However, no group has yet claimed responsibility for the blast.

Meanwhile, the Afghanistan government ceased its new solar year’s polio vaccination campaign in Nangarhar province after three female workers of the campaign were assassinated in the province this Monday.

Since the launch of intra-Afghan peace talks in Doha, the war waged in Afghanistan and mostly weighed on well-known figures, civil activists, women, religious scholars, journalists, students, teachers, doctors, and children.
