FRANCE. Paris: The World No.1 Serbian Novak Djokovic bounced back from two sets down to win the remaining three sets in a four hour long match to beat fifth seed Greek Stefanos Tsitsipas. Djokovic won his 19th grand slam.
Djokovic is now just behind the men’s record held by Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal. He’s the first man to win all four majors at least twice in the open era.
Earlier in the tournament, Novak Djokovic faced an epic match with Rafael Nadal in the semi final, in which he defeated Nadal 3-6, 6-3, 7-6 (5), 6-2 to reach his sixth French Open final at Roland Garros. On the other hand, 22-year-old, Greece’s Tsitsipas beats Zverev to become the first Greek tennis player in history to reach a Grand Slam final.

Djokovic is a 19 time Grand Slam champion and has been in the world No. 1 position for a record 324 weeks. He is one of the 8 male players to achieve a Career Grand Slam and the only one to hold all 4 major titles. Djokovic’s consistency on the ATP tour is matched only by Roger Federer. Djokovic has won 36 titles in the ATP Masters tournaments, a record shared with Nadal.
Other winners in Roland Garros
The other winners from different categories are as follows: Krejcikova and Katerina Siniakova won the women’s doubles French Open title. In the men’s doubles final, Pierre-Hugues Herbert and Nicolas Mahut defeated Kazakhs Alexander Bublik and Andrey Golubev 4-6 7-6(1) 6-4 to become the first French pair to win the home Grand Slam two times.
Britain’s Joe Salisbury and Krawczyk defeated Russian duo Vesnina and Karatsev 2-6, 6-4, 10-5 to win the French Open mixed doubles.
In the women’s singles final, the unseeded Krejcikova defeated Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova 6-1, 2-6, 6-4 to win the French Open. This is her first grand slam title.
