NIGERIA. Kano State: The Kano state government has launched a massive tree planting to impact of deforestation and global warming.
The tree-planting campaign was done in collaboration with Givfree.

Government’s pledge to residents
The government tasked residents to ensure proper personal hygiene and environmental sanitation, avoid open defecation and keep the environment clean of human excreta as well as ensuring safe and clean water to forestall new outbreaks of cholera.
Getso also noted that Kano state Government has put in place majors and programmes intervention to curb divers of environmental problems affecting the state.
The State has also set up an Afforestation Agency, which will be in charge and to coordinate the planting of trees.
“We have keyed into the National Green Wall Project where funds and lands for the establishment of community tree nurseries and plantations are provided in the state”, Getso added.
In the government’s efforts to achieve these goals, it has drafted the state pollution control bill as well as the state forestry bill for strict compliance with environmental laws.
