AUSTRALIA: A dazzling century by Beth Mooney helped the Australian Women’s Team to defeat the Indian Women’s Team by 5 wickets and win the 2nd ODI match and also the ODI series which is held between the Indian and Australian Women’s Team. By winning this ODI match Australia extend their streak to 26 wins in a row.

In this match, Australia Women won the toss and opted to bowl. Indian Women got off to a great start as both the openers Smirti Mandhana and Shafali Verma added 74 runs in just 11.1 overs. After Shafali Verma was dismissed, Mithali Raj came out to bat. Mithali couldn’t contribute much as she got run out after scoring just 8 runs. Yastika Bhatia also got out cheaply as India was 95/3 after 19.4 overs.

After that Richa Ghosh came out to bat and she stitched up a 76 runs partnership with Smriti Mandhana. Smriti Mandhana got out after scoring a magnificent 86 off 94 balls which included 11 fours. Soon after the departure of Smriti Mandhana, Richa Ghosh also got out. Richa Ghosh scored 44 off 50 deliveries which included 3 fours and a six.

Deepti Sharma (23 off 34 deliveries), Pooja Vastrakar (29 off 37 deliveries), and Jhulan Goswami (28 off 25 deliveries) scored some valuable runs to help India register a solid total of 274 runs. For Australia, Tahlia McGrath took 3 wickets, Sophie Molineux took 2 wickets and Darcie Brown took 1 wicket.

Beth Mooney and Alyssa Healy were opening the innings for the Australian side. Australian Women’s had the worst start as they lost their first wicket at 0 runs. The Dangerous Alyssa Healy got out at just the 3rd delivery of the first over which was bowled by Jhulan Goswami. After that Australia kept losing wickets at regular intervals.

Australia was 52/4 after 15.5 overs and things were not looking good for the Aussies. But after that opener, Beth Mooney and Talia McGrath stitched up a 126 runs partnership to resurrect the Australian Innings. Talia McGrath got out after scoring a brilliant 74 runs off 77 deliveries which included 9 fours.

After the fall of Tahlia McGrath, Nicola Carey joined hands with Beth Mooney who played a mind-blowing inning. Beth Mooney scored an unbeaten 125 off 133 deliveries which included 12 fours to help Australia defeat India by 5 wickets. Nicola Carey also played a good knock of 39 off 38 deliveries.

For the Indian team, Jhulan Goswami, Meghna Singh, Pooja Vastrakar, and Deepti Sharma all took 1 wicket each. Beth Mooney was named the Player of the Match for her innings of 125 runs off 133 deliveries.
