AUSTRALIA: Adelaide Strikers Women defeats Brisbane Heat Women by 8 wickets in the Eliminator match of the Women’s Big Bash League 2021. The Adelaide Strikers Women will now face the Melbourne Renegades Women for the spot in the finals. The team who will win qualifier 2 will face the Perth Scorchers Women in the final. In this match after winning the toss, Adelaide Strikers Women decided to bowl first.

Amanda Wellington’s extraordinary bowling spell

Brisbane Heat Women never looked comfortable while batting as they lost quick wickets at the start of their batting innings. Amanda Wellington wreaked havoc with her outstanding bowling performance. Brisbane Heat Women had no clue against Amanda Wellington’s bowling.

Brisbane Heat lost both their openers and half of their batting lineup in just 10.3 overs. After 10.3 overs their score was 47/6. When the score was 52/7 in 11.4 overs it was looking like Brisbane Heat won’t even cross 100 runs mark but Nicola Hancock and Nadine de Klerk stitched up a 56 runs Partnership.

Nicola Hancock scored a brilliant 40 runs off 26 deliveries which included 6 fours and 1 six whereas Nadine de Klerk scored 18 runs off 25 deliveries which included 2 fours to help Brisbane Heat Women post 114/8 in 20 overs.

For Adelaide Strikers Women, Amanda Wellington bowled brilliantly as she took 5 wickets in her 4 overs spell which included a maiden over too. Darcie Brown took 2 wickets whereas Sarah Coyte took 1 wicket.

Adelaide Strikers Women lost their first wicket in the form of Dane van Niekerk. Dane van Niekerk scored 12 off 14 deliveries and Adelaide Strikers were 16/1 after 2.4 overs. After that Katie Mack and Laura Wolvaardt had a steady partnership but Laura Wolvaardt got out after scoring 16 off 16 deliveries and Adelaide Strikers Women were 47/2 after 7.5 overs.

Katie Mack and Tahlia McGrath’s unbeaten partnership

After the fall of Laura, Tahlia McGrath came in to join Katie Mack in the middle. They both batted brilliantly and put up 70 runs partnership to help Adelaide Strikers Women win this match by 8 wickets. In this run chase, Katie Mack scored a brilliant unbeaten half-century. Katie Mack scored 50 runs off 42 deliveries which included 5 fours whereas Tahlia McGrath scored a quickfire 38 runs off 27 deliveries which included 4 fours and 1 six.

For Brisbane Heat Women’s, Poonam Yadav and Nicola Hancock took 1 wicket each.
