INDIA. Mumbai: As part of the celebration to commemorate the 75th year of Independence, the Headquarters Maharashtra Naval Area organized a ‘Freedom Cyclothon’ on Saturday in Mumbai.

The slogan of the event was- ‘Shaktya Dhairyamayati’- in Sanskrit meaning – from Strength comes Courage. 75 Cyclists covered a cumulative distance of 75 Km to commemorate ‘Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav’.

The event was flagged off by Rear Admiral Atul Anand, Flag Officer Commanding Maharashtra Naval Area. The cyclists were divided into three strings of 25 men each covering alternate routes through the bustling streets of Mumbai city.

The cyclists rode past important places of the city chanting slogan “Bharat Mata Ki Jai” (Hail Mother India) evoking patriotism in the local populace. The event was part of a series of events being organized to commemorate 75 years of India’s independence.

The Indian Navy has organized many events on the occasion of 75 th anniversary of Independence, which include lecture series, seminars, walk-a-thons, etc.
