INDIA: Zain Khan Durrani is a model and an actor who has predominantly worked in several Bollywood movies. Before starting his acting career, he has assisted some renowned Bollywood directors. In the age of social media, Durrani is using poetry to inspire the young generation. According to Durrani, writing poems help him crystallize his thoughts and he loves the scope of ambiguity it provides. The actor has an undying passion for writing poetry.
Durrani was born in the suburb of Srinagar city of Jammu and Kashmir. He has completed his schooling at Burn Hall school. Later, he went on to complete his graduation from Zakir Hussain National College in Delhi. Durrani always had an inclination towards acting. He used to actively participate in cultural activities in college and did stage acting. Durrani has been fascinated by Bollywood actor Aamir Khan’s acting.
For the love of acting, Durrani moved to the “City of Dreams”, Mumbai where he worked as an assistant director to Onir for the 2017 movie Shab. Romance-drama movie Shab had Raveena Tandon, Arpita Chatterjee, and Ashish Bisht in pivotal roles.
Beginning of an actor’s journey
While working with director Onir, Durrani observed and learned the fine nuances of acting. That’s when he decided to try his hand in acting. After Shab, director Onir decided to make Kuch Bheege Alfaaz in which Durrani got the lead role. Durrani was paired against National Award recipient Geetanjali Thapa. Kuch Bheege Alfaaz is a modern-day love story in the age of social media, as seen through two primary characters – RJ Alfaaz, played by Durrani, and meme artist Archana, played by Geetanjali Thapa.
Durrani was last seen in the 2020 film Shikara that was produced and directed by Vidhu Vinod Chopra. The film is based on the love story of a Kashmiri Pandit couple at the peak of insurgency in Jammu and Kashmir during the 1990s and the subsequent exodus of Kashmiri Pandits from the Kashmir Valley. The movie was appreciated by the critics.
