Army Pays Tribute to Soldiers Killed While Foiling Suicide Attack in J&K

The wreaths were laid to pay tributes to the Bravehearts in Jammu before their mortal remains were moved to their respective hometowns

INDIA. Mumbai: Lt. Gen. Upendra Dwivedi, Army Commander of Northern Command, and senior officials paid the brave soldiers who lost their lives in the line of duty while thwarting the terrorist suicide attack in Rajouri, Jammu and Kashmir, on Thursday, rich tributes.

The wreaths were laid to pay tributes to the bravehearts in Jammu before their mortal remains were moved to their respective hometowns. The tributes were also paid by the senior officials from the Indian Army, Air Force, and Civil Administration of Jammu.

According to a statement from the defence department, rich tributes were paid to the valiant warriors who made the ultimate sacrifice during the Counter Terrorist Operation in Parghal in District Rajouri on August 11 in a sad wreath-laying ceremony held at the Air Force Station in Jammu.

From Jammu to Delhi, service planes were used to transport the lifeless remains of Subedar Rajendra Prasad of Jhunjhunu, Rajasthan, and three other soldiers: Rifleman Lakshmanan D. of Madurai, Tamil Nadu, Rifleman Manoj Kumar of Faridabad, Haryana, and Rifleman Nishant Malik of Hisar, Haryana.

According to the statement, “the mortal remains will next be transported to their respective hometowns to complete the final rites with full military honours.”

“The Nation will always remain indebted to the gallant soldiers for their supreme sacrifice in the service of the motherland,” the statement added.

The Army’s alert forces prevented a terrorist “fidayeen” (suicide) attack on Thursday in Rajouri, which left two terrorists, three soldiers, and two soldiers seriously injured.

The terrorists made an attempt to scale the army camp’s fence. 

The invaders were challenged by the sentry on duty, and gunfire was exchanged. While three soldiers were killed on the spot, two injured were admitted to the hospital. However, one of the wounded riflemen Nishant Malik, succumbed to his injuries, taking the total security forces’ casualties to four.
