“Believing In The Purpose Of Your Business Is Important”: Deepankar Khare

INDIA: Activist Deepankar Khare says that he has felt personally responsible towards society, he believes in reciprocating what society gives, by helping people around him. It was from this thought that Deepankar’s dream was born. He envisioned himself as an instrument of change, thriving for the betterment of society and its stakeholders.

Deepankar is an MBA (PGDM) graduate from Apeejay School of Management, New Delhi. He has completed his B.Com (Hons) from Shyam Lal College, University of Delhi. Currently, Deepankar is working at Agribazaar as Deputy Manager, Institutional Business.

Deepankar’s fortes are endless just like an ocean. Prior to AgriBazaar, he has worked in the Agriculture, Food Processing, and FMCG Division at Associated Chambers of Commerce and Industry of India (ASSOCHAM). His areas of expertise include policy advocacy, government relations, Campaign and Brand Strategist, Business Development, marketing, and communications.

At ASSOCHAM, he has closely worked with agribusiness and food industries, government, and other stakeholders, helping bridge the gap between them. Deepankar is responsible for actively assisting on policies framework and making representations to various ministries and government organizations.

Since his school days, Deepankar has always considered it his personal social responsibility to give back to society. He joined an NGO – Manthan to contribute to social welfare and provide better education

“Coming from a family, where I learned to be a part of the change and to work towards the betterment of my country, I always had a dream to be a catalyst of change and growth for the society,” Deepankar told Transcontinental Times.

Prominent works

Deepankar has been successfully organizing various outreach campaigns in different locations across India like Imphal, Dehradun, Udaipur, Srinagar, New Delhi, Dharamshala in collaboration with different stakeholders like the Ministry of Food Processing Industries, Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare, the Indian government and many other industries.

He has represented ASSOCHAM in various organization meetings like QCI, BIS, NITI Aayog, APEDA, Embassy of Serbia, Invest India. He has led a delegation of Indian Agri and Food Exporters to Kazakhstan, Iran, and Iraq.

Deepankar has been writing articles on Indian Agriculture, Polity, International Relations, and Communications.

When asked about global issues that can be handled through positive social activities, he said, “Let’s talk about moving towards zero hunger, which is Sustainable Development Goal #2 fixed by United Nations. It can be critically solved via the mixed participation of all stakeholders. If we look at it only as a bird’s eye view, we will be unable to understand the problem.”

Deepankar also highlighted the need for investment in healthcare and research, and development in medicines, especially post the disastrous impact of Coronavirus around the globe.

Views on social entreprenuership

Deepankar sees social entrepreneurship as a booming industry. In the current scenario, seeing the passion for new social ventures and the growth and impact it holds, brings sparkles in his eyes.

“These initiatives are flourishing the need of the hour – and in addition, if we consider the flourishing growth of social innovation and entrepreneurship in India in the latest years, it has inspired a real development of interest in the field, and a mindset where social innovators and entrepreneurs firmly believe that they can turn the tables. Therefore, generating access to capital and mentorship for social entrepreneurial visionaries and pioneers is an extensive deal.”

Deepankar says to be successful it is important to ‘believe in the purpose of your business.’ Apart from this, he believes calculated risks and patience is the key. In his golden words to entrepreneurs – “Remember, why you took this great initiative and whom do you want to serve. I believe that having a great problem statement is the inception of any business. A great entrepreneur is undoubtedly a great leader. Involving your team is essential. You should be able to communicate your ideas and intent clearly to your clients and all stakeholders. You may follow successful entrepreneurs but you must have your own set of ideas and personality.”
