Car Bomb Blast Kills 25 Civilians In Afghanistan’s Logar Province

According to Stanekzai the building that was mainly targeted by the car bomb was a residence of Abdul Wali Wakil former Logar provincial Council Chief

AFGHANISTAN. Logar: At least 25 people were killed and over 90 people wounded after a car full of explosives hit the Pul-e-Alam city of Logar province around 7 pm last week, Hasib Stanekzai, the provincial council chairman said.

According to Stanekzai the building that was mainly targeted by the car bomb was a residence of Abdul Wali Wakil former Logar provincial Council Chief. He added that it was being used by people now.

“The car entered the area at around 6:30 pm and its driver said they were from an NGO and wanted to help the locals, ” he said, stressing that some security force members were also at the building when the explosion happened.  

The local people said that many of those who were at the building were students who had come here to attend the University entrance exams.

The local people, police, and the Logar governor were rescuing the trapped students and other people in the collapsed hotel.

The blast happened near the residential houses and a nearby hospital that has been damaged due to the incident.

Meanwhile, the Ministry of Interior said that at least 30 people were killed or wounded in the explosion. Tariq Arian, the spokesman for the interior ministry said, “The car bomb hit the roofs of houses tonight. The Logar central hospital was demolished and patients were taken out of their bed. The same Iftar (breaking of the fasting) of the Taliban in Qatar and Islamabad ate colorful food. A crime bigger than this?”

“The destruction has been made to the local houses and hospital. All the victims are our civilians, and the “terrorist Taliban” are responsible for this big crime ” he added.

Meanwhile, the Taliban and no other groups have yet claimed responsibility for the attack.
