INDIA. Mumbai: Chief of the Army Staff General Manoj Mukund Naravane arrived in Mumbai on Sunday and paid a visit to the Western Naval Command, INS Teg, and also called on Maharashtra Governor Bhagat Singh Koshyari during two days visit.

The Army Chief was accompanied by Mrs. Veena Naravane, President, Army Wives Welfare Association. They were received at Mumbai by Lt Gen SK Prashar, General Officer Commanding, Maharashtra, Gujarat and Goa Area, and Mrs. Mamta Prashar, Zonal President, Army Wives Welfare Association.

He visited the Western Naval Command (WNC) and reviewed a ceremonial guard of honour and interacted with Vice Admiral R Hari Kumar, Flag Officer Commanding-in-Chief, WNC, on Monday. They discussed operational and administrative issues including Jointmanship between the two services.

The General also visited the stealth Guided Missile Frigate INS Teg, affiliated to the Sikh Light Infantry Regiment. He was briefed about the capabilities of the warship.

Naravane was commissioned into the 7th Battalion The Sikh Light Infantry in June 1980. He has commanded the 2nd Battalion (Sikh Light Infantry) of Rashtriya Rifles in Jammu and Kashmir as well as the 106 Infantry brigade.

The Army Chief also interacted with representatives of major business houses involved in the defence sector for the manufacture and supply of state of the art equipment for Defence forces, as part of the ‘Make in India’ initiative.

Subsequently, he called on Maharashtra Governor Bhagat Singh Koshyari and discussed issues related to the welfare and resettlement of Veterans in Maharashtra.
