CANADA: In a bid to enhance user experience and curb password sharing, Netflix has unveiled an upgraded profile transfer feature, allowing subscribers to transfer their profiles to existing accounts. The announcement, made through a blog post, comes after the US-based streaming giant first introduced the feature in October last year.

Users can now seamlessly migrate their personalized recommendations, viewing history, My List, saved games, and other preferences to another account within the platform.

The profile transfer feature has been designed to streamline the user experience and provide flexibility in managing profiles. It enables Netflix members, as well as other users sharing the account, to transfer a profile to either a new or an existing account.

By facilitating this transfer, the company aims to ensure that individual viewing habits and preferences remain intact, regardless of changes in account ownership or sharing arrangements.

To initiate a profile transfer, users need to meet certain criteria. The profile must be associated with an active account, excluding Kids’ profiles. Additionally, if the profile is PIN protected, users are required to remove the PIN prior to initiating the transfer.

Profiles that have an email address linked to them are also ineligible for transfer. By implementing these conditions, Netflix aims to maintain the security and integrity of user-profiles throughout the transfer process.

Netflix subscribers who wish to disable the profile transfer feature can easily do so by following the provided instructions. This gives users the freedom to opt out of transferring their profiles should they prefer not to utilize this functionality.

In addition to the profile transfer feature, Netflix recently made changes to its subscription plans in Canada. The Basic plan, previously available at $9.99 CAD per month for new subscribers, has been discontinued.

Instead, users looking to enjoy an ad-free experience and enable downloads must now subscribe to the Standard plan, priced at $16.99 CAD per month. This adjustment reflects Netflix’s ongoing efforts to enhance its services while offering users a wider range of features and options.

With these updates, Netflix aims to further personalize the streaming experience and cater to the diverse needs of its user base. By introducing the profile transfer feature and refining its subscription plans, the company continues to solidify its position as a leading provider of on-demand entertainment, offering seamless access to a vast library of content for its subscribers.

As the streaming landscape evolves, Netflix remains committed to innovation and adapting to changing user preferences, ensuring that its platform remains a top choice for streaming enthusiasts worldwide.
