Ellen DeGeneres Announces The End Of Her Long-Running Talk Show

UNITED STATES: Popular chat show host Ellen DeGeneres has announced the end of her daytime show. According to the reports, the show will go off-air in 2022. ‘The Ellen DeGeneres Show’ has been running successfully for the last 19 years. The 63-year-old host told her virtual audience that the show had been the greatest experience of her life. DeGeneres said that after hosting one of America’s most popular shows she now needs to “take a break from talking”.

An advocate for animals, gay rights, and anti-bullying campaigns, DeGeneres became known for promoting kindness and compassion on her talk show.

The decision to end her show came six months after the show and the host was plagued by accusations of a toxic work environment on the sets. In a statement, she had said that public attacks during that time “destroyed me” but did not influence her decision to end the show.

“My instinct told me its time. As a comedian I’ve always understood the importance of timing,” Ellen said.

“Recently, I had a dream that a bird, a beautiful bird with bright red feathers, came to my window and whispered, You can still do stuff on Netflix. And that was the sign I was looking for,” she added.

The ‘Ellen DeGeneres Show’ is a recipient of more than 60 Emmy awards. DeGeneres started her career in stand-up comedy in her hometown before moving to television. In the mid-1990s she starred in the comedy show “Ellen”. She has always been a vocal supporter of the LGBTQ+ community. In 1997, she came out as a lesbian long before gay people were accepted in mainstream America.

Meanwhile, Ellen has said that her future plans are uncertain. She further added that she is open to movie roles and wants to be more involved in environmental conservation efforts.
