JAMMU & KASHMIR. Srinagar: Body of a four-year-old girl, who went missing from her residence in Ompora Housing Colony in central Kashmir’s Budgam district last evening was found in a nearby forest nursery after allegedly mauled to death by a leopard, police said.
News agency Kashmir Dot Com (KDC) quoting a police official reported that Adha Shakil, daughter of Shakil Ahmad, was taken by a leopard while she was playing in the lawns of her house last evening. Her father filed the a police complaint at around 9:30 pm in Thursday evening.
After the father informed the police about the missing girl, the police, wildlife teams and army launched a search operation to trace her out. Most people suspected that the girl was taken away by a leopard. Locals said there were blood stains all around and they were quite sure about the involvement of the leopard. Their fears came true after police found the girl’s dead body in the forest nursery.

In a statement, an official said, “The body parts of the girl was traced in a nearby forest nursery this morning.”
The leopard menace in Budgam has been a matter of concern for the citizens from a long time.
The locals said that the group of leopards was seen roaming in the area for quite some time now.The police officials have blamed the Forest Department for the negligence. In response to that, the department said that the forest nursery acts as a safe haven for the animals.
