GERMANY: German e-bicycle expert Haibike a renowned entity in the trail-blazing electric bicycle scene, released the Lyke, its latest offering to the e-MTB community.

Haibike expects its Lyke e-MTB to take the industry by storm

Many people associate the Haibike brand with e-bikes that are big, bulky, and burly up until this point. However, Haibike has chosen a sleeker, more streamlined aesthetic for its most recent model, the Lyke, while maintaining a premium e-MTB in all other respects.

A Fazua Ride 60 motor drives the new Haibike Lyke. The Fazua motor, praised for its compact and lightweight design, allows Haibike to create a slimmer and lighter frame. The result is an electric mountain bike with a travel of 140 millimetres that weighs no more than 18.5 kilograms in its most expensive SE trim level.

Because of its lightweight development and minimized design, Fazua Motor Technology (Porsche-owned) is consistently yet definitely advancing onto increasingly lighter, mid-level assist e-bicycles.

Interestingly, the Lyke’s Fazua motor is positioned straight up, into the seat tube, unlike their usual position, which usually integrates into the downtube. A lower overall centre of gravity, which enables optimal traction and stability even on technical terrain, appears to be the benefit.

The Fazua Ride 60 weighs just 4.2 kilograms, including the 430-Wh battery pack that slides right above the bottom bracket easily into and out of the frame.

The customer can add a 210-Wh range extender, bringing the total capacity to 640 Wh. The Ride 60 delivers 60 Nm of torque and three ride modes—breeze, river, and rocket—in terms of power output.

Additionally, there is a handy walk mode, which lets you push the bike around walking areas. The Haibike Lyke eBike is available at three price points. However, they all feature the same Fazua Ride 60 Motor and a full carbon frame.

The eBike has a RockShox Deluxe Select+ Shock and a RockShox Lyrik Select fork suspension. The Lyke 10 starts at £5,699 in the Leather and Orange colourway. The e-Bike includes a 12-speed SRAM SX/NX drivetrain.

The Carbon/Sand/Lime colour scheme is available on the Lyke 11, which is more expensive and costs £6,599. Lastly, the most expensive Haibike Lyke SE is available in the Navy/Bronze colourway and costs £8,799.
