INDIA: Film Producer Kamal Kishore Mishra was arrested on charges of trying to run over his wife with a car inside a parking complex earlier this month at Oshiwara in Andheri in North West Mumbai and was remanded to police custody till October 30, Friday.

Based on his wife Yasmin’s complaint, an FIR was lodged under IPC sections 279 (rash driving) and 337 (causing hurt by act endangering life or personal safety of others) as well as 134 A and B of the Motor Vehicles Act for rushing away from the spot without rendering help or informing the police. On Friday, the police also booked him under Section 307 (attempt to murder).

The incident (which was captured on CCTV footage) took place on October 19 in the parking lot of Samukh Heights, located opposite Heera Panna mall in Oshiwara. Mishra’s wife, Yasmin (35) spotted him sitting with a female model in a car. When she tried to confront him, he did not come out. Instead, he ran away with the model. In the process, he tried to ram the vehicle into Yasmin. In the melee, she suffered injuries to her leg, hand, and head.

Subsequently, Yasmeen filed a complaint with police accusing her husband of adultery and deliberately trying to run his car over her while escaping from the spot.

She told the police that Mishra had been seeing the model since February, and it had led to many confrontations earlier between the husband and wife, Senior Police Inspector Bandopant Bansode said.

The CCTV video of this incident also went viral where it could be seen that Yasmin is trying to communicate with her husband while the latter tries to run away in his Mercedez.

Yasmin’s leg got stuck under the front wheels of the car, and she fell to the ground. A passerby immediately rushed to help Yasmeen and pulled her out of the car’s way. The incident sparked huge outrage.

Mishra has been associated with films like “Dehati Disco”, “Bhootiyapa”, “Flat No. 420″, “Khalli Balli” and “Sharmaji Ki Lag Gai” as a co-producer.
