INDIA: iQOO, the innovative smartphone manufacturer, is gearing up for a game-changing entry into the Indian market with its upcoming flagship smartphone, the iQOO 12. Scheduled for launch on December 12, the iQOO 12 promises to be the first phone in India to be powered by Qualcomm’s cutting-edge Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chipset.

The announcement of this device was made by Nipun Marya, CEO of iQOO India, who revealed the official launch date via a post on X (formerly Twitter). The teaser poster for the iQOO 12 also features the iconic BMW logo, hinting at a continued collaboration with BMW M Motorsport, which has been a defining feature of previous iQOO models.

One of the most exciting aspects of the iQOO 12 is its display technology. According to GSMArena, the smartphone is expected to feature a dedicated display processor with hardware-based ray tracing support. This technology will allow game developers to implement realistic lighting, shadows, and reflections, making it possible for the iQOO 12 to run popular titles like PUBG, Genshin Impact, and League of Legends Mobile at an astonishing 144fps using frame rate interpolation.

The device is rumored to come with a QHD E7 OLED screen boasting a 144Hz refresh rate, ensuring a stunning visual experience. It may also include a metal frame, an ultrasonic in-display fingerprint sensor, and the potential for fast charging at 200W, although conflicting reports are suggesting the company might opt for a 120W charging speed coupled with a substantial 6000mAh battery.

On the camera front, the iQOO 12 is expected to impress with a triple camera setup on the back. This setup could consist of a 50MP Omnivision camera with optical image stabilization (OIS), a 50MP Samsung ISOCELL JN1 ultrawide sensor, and a 64MP telephoto lens. Notably, a periscope lens might be omitted. The device is anticipated to run on FunTouch OS 14, based on Android 14, straight out of the box, ensuring a smooth and up-to-date user experience.

While the iQOO 12 will make its debut in China on November 7 alongside the iQOO 12 Pro, it’s unlikely that the Pro variant will make its way to the Indian market. The iQOO 12 is poised to be a game-changer in the Indian smartphone landscape, bringing cutting-edge technology and performance to the hands of consumers.
