QATAR: Qatar hosted the 2022 FIFA World Cup, making it the first Middle Eastern nation to host the prestigious event. However, Stadium 974 is the centre of attention during the ongoing event. Football fans from all over the world made their way to the country during the ongoing mega event.

Qatar constructed seven brand-new stadiums in prominent cities for the football extravaganza, and Qatar renovated seven existing ones to accommodate as many as 2.45 million spectators. For the right reasons, Stadium 974 in Doha stands out as one of the newly constructed venues.

After the World Cup, the structure is completely removable because it was constructed entirely from recycled shipping containers. The arena has played host to seven games, including group and knockout competitions, since its opening.

The final Round of 16 matches that took place here on Monday was between Brazil and South Korea. FIFA released a special Twitter video before the match that showcased Stadium 947’s 360-degree view. The post’s caption reads, “Constructed with 974 shipping containers. After the World Cup, Stadium 974 can be wholly deconstructed and repurposed.”

The Gulf nation’s international dialling code is the source of the number “974” in the name. Additionally, it indicates the precise number of containers used in the structure’s construction.

Hosts, Qatar, assert that steel and shipping containers, two recyclable materials, were utilized in its construction. Stadium 974, constructed as a portside structure, has a capacity of 44,089 fans.

In addition, this is the only venue in Qatar without air conditioning. Therefore, the evening was the time of each game here. On the official website of the event, the organizers explained that fans at Stadium 974 will be able to experience the cool breeze as it blows in from the Arabian Gulf.

FIFA claims that the Qatar authorities will tear down the superstructure after the conclusion of the World Cup. According to speculations, the containers will be shipped to nations that want the infrastructure.

“Although Stadium 974’s real physical presence may be temporary, thanks to this ground-breaking venue-development idea, its legacy will endure forever,” the host stated about the event’s brief existence.
