INDIA: The latest in a string of domestic senior-level departures at parent company Meta Platform Inc. is Vinay Choletti, head of WhatsApp’s India payment unit, who left the company after only four months in the position.

Following the departure of Meta’s national leader, Ajit Mohan, in November, Vinay Choletti’s resignation marks the fourth high-profile departure from the company in India in roughly one and a half months.

Abhijit Bose, the CEO of WhatsApp India, and Rajiv Aggarwal, the head of Meta India’s public policy, all left the business last month after Ajit Mohan.

WhatsApp CEO Will Cathcart commended Bose for his “tremendous contribution” after he announced his departure.

“I want to thank Abhijit Bose for the excellent job he did as our first Head of WhatsApp in India. His entrepreneurial attitude helped our team provide cutting-edge services that have helped millions of people and organisations. “We’re eager to continue promoting India’s digital transformation since WhatsApp has so much more to offer India.” Cathcart made a notation in a prepared statement.

On LinkedIn, Vinay Choletti posted an update about leaving WhatsApp.

Vinay Choletti remarked on Wednesday that “Today was my last day at WhatsApp Pay,” and that observing WhatsApp’s scope and impact in India had been “humbling.”

Choletti has not stated clearly what his future goals are. As I embark on my next adventure, WhatsApp, Choletti wrote in the post: “I genuinely believe it has the ability to significantly transform financial inclusion and digital payments in India, and I am looking forward to seeing it realise its full potential in the coming years.”

In October 2021, he left Amazon to become the president of WhatsApp Pay’s Merchant Payments division.
