Top African Musicians To Feature In An Eddie Murphy Movie

Tiwa Savage, Tekno, Diamond Platinumz, late DJ Arafat, Prince Kaybee and Fally Ipupa to be among the list of musicians

SOUTH AFRICA. Durban: Highly followed African musicians will feature in a compilation of soundtrack to the new movie ‘Coming 2 America’.

The movie is set to be released on 5 March 2021. It is a sequel to the original Eddie Murphy starred ‘Coming 2 America’.

The soundtrack compilation titled “Rhythms of Zamunda” will have Tiwa Savage and Tekno of Nigeria, Diamond Platinumz of Tanzania, late DJ Arafat of Ivory Coast, Prince Kaybee of South Africa and Fally Ipupa of the Democratic Republic of The Congo among others.

South Africa’s Chief Executive Officer of Universal Music, Sipho Dhlamini made the announcement jointly with Def Jam Records and Def Jam Africa on February 15.

The trio said that the 16 track compilation will bridge Africa’s selection.

Sipho said, “we wanted to represent the sounds that are relevant, impactful and  current to the continent.”

Just like the 1980s ‘Coming to America’ the new movie will also feature Murphy as a leading actor supported by Arsenio Hall.

Among others ‘Hallelujah’, Diamond Platnumz’s collaboration with Morgan Heritage, the Jamaican reggae group made it into the selection.

‘Dangerous love’ by Tiwa Savage and South Africa’s DJ Ganyani brings a union of west and southern African rhythm.

Prince Kaybee of South Africa features another South African Msaki in ‘Fetch Your Life’

The original movie ‘Coming to America’ had appealed to Africans in the diaspora.
