SPAIN. Madrid: Vanessa Gil, a curious woman of many talents, is an accomplished author, Spotify podcast creator and executive coach.
A student of journalism, Gil, graduated in drama and then went on to obtain a master’s degree as a Spanish teacher.
Gil, who has lived in four different countries has never been afraid of switching careers. She, in fact, started from scratch every time, which she believes, is a mere utopia. “Our growth is exponential and this made me understand that when one finds himself in difficulty, it is when they develop skills the most,” she told Transcontinental Times.
“When you are surrounded by absolute nothingness, your brain becomes brilliant, it looks for the necessary tools to survive and makes you stronger, more consistent, and confident in yourself and your abilities, and that is a superpower,” Gil added.
Take On Entrepreneurship
“Autonomy will increasingly win the battle against the classic business model,” the successful writer said. “People are an accumulation of facets; being able to monetize all of them will generate new ways to earn money in a transversal way. This autonomy offers the power to manage one’s own time, as well as one’s own living space.”
Education and learning, Gil believes, are of great significance. In these times, people have the liberty to choose — where to live, who to work with and how much time to invest in their professional life.
“This new lifestyle will be a turning point for education. Classical educational models will have to be transformed. Individuals will be able to choose what they want to study based on their tastes and their strengths as future professionals. Education will evolve from the individual to the group, understanding that we are all different. Betting on the singularity of the individual,” she noted.
Global Issues And Entrepreneurship
When asked about her views the existing global issues Gil said, it is more relevant to talk about challenges. “Throughout history, human beings faced multiple challenges, which allowed us to evolve.”
“The most important of all the challenges the world is facing today is that of inequality and not just in terms of wealth or gender, even technological. Everyone should have the equality to be able to choose what kind of person or worker we want to be, to develop, be seen and heard anywhere on the planet. Equality to communicate with respect is vital. Equality to understand that as a global world, everyone is involved in its proper functioning and seeks solutions together — COVID-19 pandemic is one such example,” Gil said.
Talking about companies, Gil said she sees them as small societies. She promotes a healthy work environment where employers empower their employees and make them feel part of the company’s evolution. She believes a positive and appreciative work environment makes employees more productive and they grow better.
“People spend a large part of the day connected with bosses, colleagues, institutions in general, so if they can’t consider their company as their own home or feel protected and admired, where they can be themselves without filters or labels, professional relationships will generate evocative of failure,” Gil further said.
We are all talented and possess great power, Gil said. We all have an inner essence that is different from the rest because of our biological aspects, socio-economic context and cultural difference. Humans are capable of changing their vision and with it, the vision of the rest. Transformation is a continuous process and people should take on challenges that generate a positive attitude so they become self-aware.
Gil thinks executive coaching is an opportunity to create new ways of being more honest and empowering. New ways of communicating help in effectively understanding another person’s point of view, which can, in turn, guide them to take charge of their lives, thereby aiding them build a more prosperous future.
