INDIA. Mumbai: Patanjali chief and Yoga Guru Baba Ramdev stroke a controversy when he said that “women look good in sarees, in salwar suits and in my eyes they look good even if they don’t wear anything” in a Yoga Science Camp and Women’s Meeting organised in Thane (near Mumbai) on Friday.

The camp was organized by the Patanjali Yoga Peeth and Mumbai Mahila Patanjali Yoga Samiti (MPYS) in the highland ground area of Thane. Amrita Fadnavis, the wife of Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, was present at the meeting.

Baba Ramdev made this statement in the presence of Chief Minister Eknath Shinde’s son, MP Shrikant Shinde, MLA Ravi Rana, and former Actress Deepali Sayyed.

Women had brought dresses for yoga, and then a convention was organized for women. Women brought sarees for this convention. There was a yoga science camp in the morning, after which a yoga training program was conducted for women.

Soon after that, a general meeting for women started. Baba Ramdev said there is no problem even if you don’t have time to wear sarees, so go home and wear sarees. He further said, “women look good in sarees, women look good in salwar suits too, and in my eyes, they look good even if they wear nothing. We used to roam naked till the age of 10 years; who used to make us dressed ?”

Maharashtra Congress general secretary Sachin Sawant slammed Ramdev Baba, saying that his statement has exposed his real mindset. “We strongly condemn the controversial statement against women and his derogatory views against women,” he noted.

NCP leader Rupali Patil-Thombre in a tweet, said that the blood supply to Baba Ramdev’s brain is getting reduced.

“His comments on women’s dresses like sarees and salwar suits can be ignored. He has been conducting Yuga camps for women. But he overstepped by adding a sexist comment from his rotten brain. Instead of giggling, Amruta Fadnavis should have slapped him there and then to maintain women’s dignity,” the tweet read.
