UNITED STATES: After one year since the release of Zack Snyder’s Justice League, actor Wayne T. Carr revealed the official look of his Green Lantern cameo in the film. His character was supposed to make a cameo appearance in the scene where Martian Manhunter meets Bruce Wayne. Green Lantern was assumed to appear instead of Martian Manhunter, but it was cut due to a request from the WB studio.

Snyder cut totally eliminated the Whedon cut

The original release of Joss Whedon’s Justice League (2017) sparked widespread resentment among fans. The film was drastically shortened from 4 hours to 2 hours, resulting in poor character storytelling. The narrative was riddled with loopholes, and Henry Cavil’s infamous CGI mustache removal turned Superman into a parody.

Fans went crazy after Zack Synder revealed the details of his version of the film. Following that, DC fans launched the #ReleaseTheSnyderCut campaign, which lasted for years. Finally, the film was released on HBO Max in the United States and on BookMyShow in India. Shortly after its release, the film received a tremendous amount of support from fans. With a total runtime of 4 hours, the film was so well received that the #ReleaseTheSnyderCut campaign has now been renamed #RestoreTheSnyderVerse.

There were many speculations and theories about the appearance of Green Lantern before the release of the Snyder Cut, given the character is also one of the original members of the Justice League. However, the character did not appear in the film when it was released. Since then, Zack Snyder has published some behind-the-scenes photographs of Wayne T. Carr as Green Lantern. This sparked interest among DC fans, resulting in a boost to their campaign.

Wayne T. Carr supports the #RestoreTheSynderVerse campaign

On March 18, 2022, actor Wayne T. Carr revealed his official Green Lantern look on Twitter. “Give the fans what they want- JL 2/3 #RestoreTheSnyderVerse, In brightest day…” he captioned the photo.

Green Lantern has a variety of iterations in the comic books, with Hal Jordan, John Stewart, and Guy Gardner being the most popular among DC fans. Rayn Reynolds portrayed Hal Jordan in Green Lantern (2011), which got negative reviews from both audiences and critics.

In Snyder Cut, Wayne T. Carr played the John Stewart version of the Green Lantern. This incarnation of Green Lantern was popular in the animated shows Justice League (2001) and Justice League Unlimited (2004). The cameo was supposed to happen at the end of the movie, where Green Lantern would meet Bruce Wayne and possibly play a key role in the sequel.

Why the Green Lantern cameo was removed?

In an interview with Vanity Fair, Zack Snyder cleared up any uncertainty about the Green Lantern cameo. He believes that the cameo was cut because WB has other plans for the character. The Green Lantern series was first announced by HBO Max in 2019, however, it appears that the project has slowed since then.
