UNITED KINGDOM: Renowned cricketer Mahendra Singh Dhoni, who is known for his composure and shrewd field judgement, has won the hearts of cricket fans worldwide. Even though Dhoni’s international career is over, his charisma and influence are still felt today. On Thursday, July 7, former India captain Dhoni celebrated his 41st birthday while watching a match in Wimbledon.

He was pictured at the All England Club in London wearing a grey blazer and goggles in a photo shared by Wimbledon’s Twitter account.

“An Indian icon watching on,” Wimbledon tweeted.

Sunil Gavaskar, a former cricketer for India, was also spotted in the crowd.

Sania Mirza, a seasoned tennis player from India, lost a mixed doubles match at Wimbledon to Neal Skupski and Desirae Krawczyk, the reigning champions. Six-time Grand Slam champion Mirza has already declared that she will give up playing tennis after the 2022 campaign.

Rafael Nadal, who is aiming for his third Grand Slam victory of the year, played in another legendary encounter. After defeating American Taylor Fritz in a fifth-set tiebreaker, Rafael Nadal advanced to the Wimbledon semifinals. For a spot in Sunday’s final, the 36-year-old Spaniard will next compete against Nick Kyrgios.

The Champions Trophy (2013), the T20 World Cup (2007), and the legendary ICC ODI World Cup are the three major ICC competitions that Dhoni is the only captain in the history of the sport to have won (2011). The adored finisher has won two Champions League titles while serving as captain, three ICC trophies for Team India, and four IPL awards for Chennai Super Kings.

MSD ended his career in international cricket on August 15, 2020. The 2019 World Cup semifinal was where he played his final international game. He is currently seen leading the Chennai Super Kings and playing for them in the IPL.
