INDIA: The Om Raut directorial debut, Adipurush, debuted on June 16. As the Prabhas starrer has completed day 1 of its box office run, the collection is finally out.

Adipurush has been a centre of discussion among film enthusiasts since the release of the teaser, which received massive criticism from viewers. Now, despite a disappointing reaction from the audience, Adipurush recorded a massive opening at the box office, as it’s counted among the third biggest openings for any Bollywood movie post-pandemic after Pathaan and KGF 2.

As per reports, the Telugu version of the film collected the highest collection of Rs 50 crore. The Hindi version of the film received Rs 35 crore, whereas the Tamil and Malayalam versions got Rs 70 lakh and Rs 40 lakh, respectively.

As per reports, the Shah Rukh Khan starrer Pathaan entered 2023 with the highest earning of Rs 106 crore worldwide on its opening day, and Adipurush has beat the numbers.

However, talking about the film reviews, Ishita Chakraborty, Editor in Chief of Transcontinental Times rated the film “1.5/5”.

Her review read, “Adipurush is a cinematic misfire that squanders the opportunity to honour the Ramayana and its enduring legacy. It fails to capture the heart and soul of the epic, delivering a lackluster and disjointed narrative. As audiences, we are left yearning for a faithful retelling of the Ramayana, one that respects the depth and gravitas of this timeless tale.”

The film stars Prabhas, Kriti Sanon, Saif Ali Khan, Sunny Singh and Devdatta Nage in lead roles. The Om Raut-directed movie is bankrolled by Bhushan Kumar’s T-Series.
