INDIA/PAKISTAN: Babar Azam, the captain of the Pakistan cricket team, recently made headlines when he chose the Big Bash League (BBL) over the Indian Premier League (IPL) as his preferred T20 league.

In a video that went viral on social media, Babar was asked which league he liked the most, to which he responded, “The conditions over there in Australia are different. There, pitches are really quick, and you learn a lot. In contrast, IPL offers the same Asian conditions.”

This unexpected answer drew a variety of reactions from fans and former players alike. One of the most notable reactions came from former Indian cricketer Harbhajan Singh, who responded to the video with a laughing emoji on Twitter.

While some may find Babar’s preference for the BBL over the IPL surprising, it’s worth noting that the Australian league has its own strengths and challenges.

The BBL is known for its fast pitches and high-scoring matches, which can be a valuable learning experience for batsmen looking to improve their skills.

Additionally, the BBL features some of the world’s top players, including Babar, who has played for the Sydney Thunder in the past.

Babar is currently playing in the Pakistan Super League (PSL), where he has been leading his team, Peshawar Zalmi, to victory.

In a recent match against Islamabad United, Babar scored 64 runs from 39 balls, helping his team put up a total of 183 runs. Islamabad could only manage 171 runs in response and was eliminated from the competition.

Babar’s comments about the BBL and the IPL show that different players have different preferences when it comes to T20 leagues, and each league has its own unique strengths and challenges.

While some may prefer the IPL’s familiar Asian conditions, others may find the fast pitches of the BBL to be a more valuable learning experience.
