INDIA: Perfectly adapted from Jeph Loeb’s Graphic novel Batman: The Long Halloween. The story is centered in Gotham city of 1939, which is terrorized by the Holiday killer. It is now up to the trio of Batman (voiced by Jensen Ackles), Commissioner James Gordon (voiced by Billy Burke), and Harvey Dent (voiced by Josh Duhamel) to free the Gotham from the horrors of the murderer.
The effectiveness of the movie sets in motion with the beginning of the murder. The small title “Halloween” emerges on the screen with the Jack O lantern, depicting the theme of serial killing only on holidays. The story follows Batman in his early days as a dark knight of Gotham followed by James Gordon and Harvey Dent. The plot sets up Gotham city in the clutches of the Falcone crime family, their wilfulness is disturbed as the Holiday killer eliminates the family members one by one. The murders and the rivalry between two crime families, Falcone and Maroni engage the viewers with a perfect thrilling experience.
The animation style is a perfect combination of 2-D merged with CGI (computer-generated imagery). The motion of Batmobile, during the car chase, adds realism to this 2-D generated world. Phenomenal cinematography can be observed during the chasing scene involving Batman and Mickey Chen (voiced by Greg Chun). The thick border line animation enhances the fluidity of action sequences.
The faultless set of characters, with proper screen timing act as another strong aspect of the movie. Batman’s incomplete detective mode maintains a balance between his personal and superhero life. The duality of Batman and Bruce Wayne is foreshadowed in Harvey Dent’s transformation into Two-Face. Commissioner James Gordon is a character-forming a connecting link between Batman and Harvey Dent. Selena Kyle a.k.a Catwoman (voiced by Naya Rivera) forms a fan favorite chemistry with Batman and also plays a major role in the murder investigation. Carmine Falcone (voiced by Titus Welliver) a.k.a Godfather to his people is a family-centered man with criminal activities. Joker (voiced by Troy Baker) is the clown prince of crime. Who considers himself challenged by Holiday killer, further causes havoc in the city.
The voice acting of the cast is awesome and well suited to their respective character. Troy Baker’s voice as Joker captures the true psycho aspect of the character. Jensen Ackles’s voice as Batman befits the seriousness of the Caped Crusader.
The movie doesn’t deviate itself from the plot avoiding an unnecessarily stretched storyline. Whenever the Holiday killer loads the gun, it strikes a visual terror in the viewers. Even though some of the scenes show blood, the movie is PG-13. This murder mystery animated movie blended with flawless action sequences is must watch for the Dark Knight fans.
