INDIA: The third Test of the ongoing Border-Gavaskar Trophy (BGT) has been confirmed by the BCCI to take place in Indore rather than Dharamshala as originally planned.

BCCI announced the new schedule for BGT 3rd Test

The third Test of BGT between India and Australia was set to begin on March 1 at Dharamshala. However, it is unlikely that the location will host an international game.

The outfield grass density at Dharamshala is insufficient for a 5-day Test match because of the region’s persistent winter conditions, according to pitch curator Tapoosh Chatterjee, and this pushed the BCCI to hunt for another location.

The 3rd Test of the Mastercard Australia tour of India for BGT, which was earlier set to take place at the HPCA Stadium, Dharamshala, from March 1–5, has been moved to Holkar Stadium, Indore, according to a press statement from the BCCI.

As per BCCI, the outfield lacks sufficient grass density and will take some time to establish fully due to the challenging winter weather in the area.

After defeating Australia by innings and 132 runs in the first Test of BGT 2023 at Nagpur, India now leads the series 1-0. From February 17 at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi, the second Test of the four-game series will be played.

Fans are incurring a high cost as a result of this. The HPCA and BCCI should have known better, given the draw of the location, that fans would be planning their plans much in advance.

Since Dharamshala is also a popular tourism site, fans frequently travel there from all over the country, unlike, for instance, venues in Mumbai, Bengaluru, Chennai, or anywhere else in the country.

It’s a perfect environment for live sports viewing, with the snow-covered Himalayas in the background and a pleasant temperature throughout the day.
