INDIA: Commemorating Dr APJ Abdul Kalam on his 91st Birth Anniversary, a man who won million hearts and left no stone unturned to carve a niche for India. He was born on October 15, 1931, in a Tamil Muslim family in Rameshwaram, being the youngest of four brothers and one sister in the family.

Abdul Kalam is also recognised as “The Missile Man of India” for actively participating in making India a nuclear weapons state. In memory of Kalam, everyone celebrates his birthday as world’s Student’s Day because of his fondness towards young aspiring students.

Abdul Kalam has selflessly contributed to India and its people, for which he is also known as the ”People’s President”. He gave his entire salary as the Prime Minister’s Chief Scientific Adviser for the betterment of the Nation.

He has served the former President of India and taken forward the country in terms of technology, education and innovation. The Man with dreams and vision has also continued to mentor DRDO (Defence Research and Development Organisation) for nearly four decades.

Dr APJ Abdul Kalam has also been awarded the highest rank of honour, such as Padma Bhushan (1981) and Padma Vibhushan (1990) civilian awards, as well as the highest civilian honour, the Bharat Ratna (1997).

Moreover, scientists from NASA named a new microbe Solibacillus Kalamii, in honour of Dr Kalam. His aura is so infectious that people adore and admire him as a human being, apart from being an inspiring leader.

Besides serving in the field of technology, Kalam has also made his contribution to the field of Literature. He wrote nearly 18 novels, 22 poems, and four songs in his lifetime. He has also kept his email I’d available for youths to interact with him directly without facing any problems, which made him very popular among youths.

His vision of making India a strong nation is taken forward by all the forthcoming leaders; however, his noble words and quotes of good leadership are still a guiding torch to many.
