INDIA: The lore and legend of Brahmastra can be termed Ayan Mukerji’s vision, which adds his directorial touch to the film. The story is, of course, pitched by him under the banner of Dharma Productions. Made on a budget of ₹ 300 crores, the film took almost eight years to wrap up and is finally arriving on the big screen on September 9, 2022.

The ancient Indian stories served as the cornerstone for Brahmastra

Ayan disclosed his inspiration for the film in an interview with Amar Ujala, remarking, “I was mostly influenced by our history, our mythology, our ancient stories, and our Gods and Goddess.” They had been a part of my subconscious since childhood. Aside from that, I grew up watching a lot of Hollywood movies, and they were all made with technological breakthroughs. As a result of watching those films, I was inspired to create a similar visual spectacular.”

“I wanted to achieve something that had never been done on the Indian screen before.” So, I decided that Indian spirituality would be the cornerstone for this film,” he concluded.

When Ayan first announced the film in 2014, it was rumoured to be entitled Dragon, but it was later renamed Brahmastra. He explained the significance of the tile by stating that the title Brahmastra connects with ancient wisdom, forces, and strength.

The earlier film announcement was sandwiched between another Bollywood film starring a slew of stars from other industries, but when the title teaser was released, it gave hope that this film could turn the tide in the Indian filmmaking industry. The trailer hints at that as well. Though the final decision may be determined by the film’s premiere, the trailer has raised the stakes.

The film’s narrative entices Shiva’s journey as the upcoming divine hero

The plot of Brahmastra will be traced back to Shiva, a DJ who appears to be some kind of fire wielder, and sure, he is fireproof. Following the blossoming romance between him and Isha serves as a usual narrative. However, Shiva’s ability to awaken the universe’s most potent weapon, dubbed “sare astro ka devta,” Brahmastra, puts his journey on an exceptional route that will sum up the supernatural fantasy genre. On the other hand, some demonic powers will set out to harness the power of Brahmastra, albeit for a destructive purpose.

The film is the first instalment of a trilogy that explores Shiva’s odyssey through the Astraverse, a world filled with mystical weapons. Uncovering every facet of the Brahmastra’s ethos, it will add Shiva as the upcoming divine superhero.

The cast of Brahmastra incorporates a range of well-known Indian actors. Ranbir Kapoor plays the lead as Shiva, also called “Agni Astra”. As Isha, Alia Bhatt adds to the blossoming romance, and who knows, who knows, she might even have some type of power. Amitabh Bachchan serves in the role of Guru Arvind, a mentor figure to Shiva who will help him reach his true potential. With his formidable character as Anish, Nagarjuna Akkineni fills the void. Finally, Mouni Roy joins Junoon, the Queen of Darkness, to cover the chasm of looming enmity.

In addition to the leading ensemble, Shah Rukh Khan is expected to feature in a cameo role as a scientist. The trailer has also sparked speculation among fans that the man holding Trishul is none other than the King of Romance himself. Though it is only a notion, the mystery surrounding the character will only be revealed with the film’s premiere.
