INDIA: The Congress targeted PM Narendra Modi over alleged fooling of Indian citizens with the ‘Rozgar Melas’ scheme. The opposition party accused the Modi government of destroying “lakhs and lakhs of jobs” for the youth.

Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge called it a betrayal to youths and further made a tweet stating, “Modi ji who promised to provide 2 crore jobs annually, in 9 years, has shattered the dreams of 18 crore youth so far. 30 lakh posts are vacant in government departments, but today an event has been organised to distribute only 71,000 recruitment letters!”

Besides this, Congress MP Jairam Ramesh took a jibe at PM Modi by writing, “He has taken it to new lows through his Rozgar Melas—as if he has personally created these jobs as if he is personally paying those getting these jobs, and as if those getting these jobs should feel beholden to him and him alone.”

The grand old party alleges that PM Modi has destroyed lakhs and lakhs of jobs both in the government and private sector. They also claimed that the reasons are listed with the effects of demonetisation, falling off GST, and crippling MSMEs. They accused the PM of taking steps for the privatisation of PSUs.

Thus, Jairam Ramesh added “The PM claims to be a self-made man. He is obsessed with the man who has made him.”

The latest Rozgar Mela was hosted in 45 different cities across the country. Recruitment is underway for both central government ministries and state governments/UTs that are supporting this initiative.

PM Modi distributed employment letters to more than 71,000 persons at the Rozgar Mela. He said on Tuesday that modifications made by his administration to the recruiting process have put a stop to the potential of corruption and nepotism.
