INDIA: The Akshay Kumar and Rakul Preet Singh-starrer Cuttputlli finally debuted on Hotstar. The trailer for the mystery-thriller film drew a lot of attention, and now the reviews have arrived on Twitter.

Cuttputlli is a remake of Ram Kumar’s directorial 2018 Tamil crime-thriller, Ratsasan. The original film starred Vishnu Vishal and Amala Paul in the lead roles. In the remake, Akshay Kumar and Rakul Preet star at the forefront.

The Bollywood version of the psychological thriller is directed by Ranjit M. Tewari. The director is well-known for Lucknow Central (2017) and Bell Bottom (2021). The mystery-thriller movie is bankrolled by Vashu Bhagnani, Jackky Bhagnani, and Deepshika Deshmukh under the banner of Pooja Entertainment.

So let’s see if Cuttputlli holds up to the mystery and thriller elements compared to the original

Indian trade analyst and film critic Sumit Kadel tweeted, ‘’#Cuttputlli ⭐️⭐️⭐️ Cuttputlli is a riveting & fast paced crime thriller. Film manages to captivate & keep you on edge throughout, though better bgm & more impactful climax would’ve made it as good as the original, still it’s a decent watch. #AkshayKumar plays a cop with finesse.’’

The film critic added, ‘’@Rakulpreet performed well, Supporting cast lended a good support.. #RanjitMTiwari direction is fair but he could’ve executed the climax more efficiently had he shown past of the villain in more detail. Overall those who haven’t watched #Ratsasan would enjoy #Cattputlli more.’’

Film critic Tuteja Joginder tweeted, ‘’#Cuttputlli – An edge of the seat thriller that keeps you guessing. I haven’t watched #Ratsasan so was caught by the suspense. @akshaykumar delivers a very good act as a different kind of cop who is not #Sooryavanshi, is asked to just follow orders, but applies his mind ⭐️⭐️⭐️1/2.’’

Given the critic’s review, Cuttputlli appears to be gaining a decent rating. Currently, the film has an IMDB rating of 8/10 with two critics’ reviews. The film score might fluctuate further as the audience rating arrives.

Akshay Kumar will next star in Capsule Gill (2023), Ram Setu, OMG 2, Gorkha, Bade Miyan Chote Miyan, and Crack.
