INDIA. Mumbai: An old image of Bollywood star Shah Rukh Khan is going viral on the internet. The image shows Shah Rukh Khan standing with outstretched hands and being frisked by security officials at Mumbai airport.
While sharing the picture, social media users claimed that this image was taken on Saturday when Shah Rukh Khan was stopped by the customs department at the Mumbai airport.
On Saturday, November 12, afternoon, news outlets flew into a tizzy, saying that Khan and his entourage had been stopped at Mumbai airport in an incident involving payment of duties.
Shah Rukh Khan was fined Rs. 6.83 lakhs as a penalty for carrying luxury watches worth Rs. 18 lakhs, as per the news.

Our team found a video on Twitter posted by Khan’s Fanclub Twitter handle @SRKCHENNAIFC with the same location as the viral image and a caption that says, “One More Full Video: King Khan @iamsrk clicked on Kolkata Airport last night when leaving for Mumbai post the #KKRvKXIP match!”
This post confirmed that the viral photograph was taken when Khan was leaving Kolkata airport following a match between the Kolkata Knight Riders and Kings XI Punjab in the Indian Premier League.
Additionally, we found a side-shot video on Khan’s Twitter handle showing him celebrating while wearing the same outfit as in the viral picture.
Our team also investigated the incident that happened at the Mumbai airport on Saturday and found out that in the early hours of November 12, at Mumbai’s Chhatrapati Shivaji International Airport in a private terminal, the Air Intelligence Unit (AIU) of the customs department detained five members of Shah Rukh Khan’s team for possessing an Apple iWatch and six other pricey watch cases.
Shah Rukh Khan and his manager, Pooja Dadlani, who had just arrived from Dubai, had already left for home when the bodyguards with luggage were stopped for checking at gate number 8.
The items were worth a total of Rs 17.86 lakh. Shah Rukh Khan was required to pay customs duties of Rs 6.88 lakh, or 38.5 percent of the value of the goods, before his team members were allowed to leave.
