Ghulam Nabi Azad Announces His Party’s Name: “Democratic Azad Party”

The leader unveiled the flag of his new Democratic Azad Party which shows three colours - mustard, white and blue

INDIA. Jammu and Kashmir: The former Jammu and Kashmir chief minister  Ghulam Nabi Azad, before quitting the Congress party, announced a retitle for his new political outfit. Azad named his party the ‘Democratic Azad Party.

During a media conference, Gulam Nabi called his party free of any influence and will be purely secular, democratic and independent. The leader unveiled the flag of his new Democratic Azad Party which shows three colours – mustard, white and blue.

Gulam Nabi Azad said, “The names for my new party were sent to us, in Urdu, and Sanskrit. The mix of Hindi & Urdu is Hindustani. We want the name to be democratic, peaceful, and independent.”

He thereafter defined the flag, which says, “The mustard colour indicates creativity and unity in diversity, white indicates peace and blue indicate freedom, open space, imagination and limits from the depths of the ocean to the heights of the sky”.

The leader however aims to save Jammu & Kashmir as a whole and said, “I’ve not decided upon a name for my party yet. The people of J-K will decide the name and the flag for the party. I’ll give a Hindustani name to my party that everyone can understand… My party will focus on the restoration of full statehood, right to land, and employment to native domicile.”

The veteran leader who had been a Congress loyalist for almost 5 decades, called off his ties with the party because colleagues from the party conspired ‘defamation’ against him.

During his public appearance at Sainik Colony in Jammu said, “Congress was made by us by our blood, not by computers, not by Twitter. People are trying to defame us but their reach is limited to computers and tweets. That is why Congress is nowhere to be seen on the ground.”
