INDIA. Assam: The dynamic and outspoken Assam chief minister, Himanta Biswa Sarma, recently attended a media summit where he threw a challenge at Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, asking him to tweet against Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) chief Sharad Pawar over his ties with Adani Group chairperson Gautam Adani. He also asked about his relationship with the business tycoon.

The National Congress party leaders are screaming out loud for a Joint Parliamentary Committee probe, into the Adani-Hindenburg issue. In between this ex-Congress MP Rahul Gandhi linked the names of some ex-Congressmen, including Himanta Biswa Sarma, and Ghulam Nabi Azad, with the Adani issue.

Thus, the BJP leader during the media interaction said, “Rahul Gandhi tweeted that we are Adani’s friends. I don’t even know him. Northeast people will take some time to reach Adani, Ambani, and Tata. Whatever…we are trying to reach there. But does Rahul Gandhi have the courage, I challenge, to tweet against Sharad Pawar? To ask what Pawarji’s relationship is with Adani? So this is the politics of convenience.”

Surprisingly, the Assam Supremo also opened up and said, “You tweet something on the BJP and Adani, but when Gautam Adani goes to Sharad Pawar’s house and spends 2-3 hours, why doesn’t Rahul Gandhi tweet? I have no problem with Sharad Pawar meeting Adani ji.”

As per the reports, Gandhi was unaware of the official tweets that had been posted on his behalf. Thus, Sarma said, “A senior Congress leader in Assam told me that Rahul Gandhi probably does not even know what he tweeted. Someone made him tweet that.”

Moreover, talking about the 2024 LokSabha elections, the Assam CM openly condemned the idea that Nitish Kumar could survive in the race without the support of Tejaswi. He stated that “If they aim to contain the BJP within 250 seats in the Lok Sabha, it means they have already accepted defeat.”
