Ishita Kishore Tops UPSC Civil Services Examination 2022

As per the results announced on Tuesday, the 933 candidates comprise 613 men and 320 women

INDIA. Mumbai:  Ishita Kishore secured the top position, followed by Garima Lohia, Uma Harathi N, and Smriti Mishra, in the UPSC Civil Services Examination 2022 among the total of 933 candidates recommended for appointment to various services.

As per the results announced on Tuesday, the 933 candidates comprise 613 men and 320 women. Of the total recommended candidates, 345 belong to the general category, 99 are from the Economically Weaker Section (EWS), 263 are OBC, 154 are SC, and 72 are ST.

Based on the result of the written part of the Civil Services Examination, 2022, held by the Union Public Service Commission in September 2022 and the interviews for the Personality Test held in January-May this year, the candidates, in order of merit, have been recommended for appointment to (i) Indian Administrative Service; (ii) Indian Foreign Service; (iii) the Indian Police Service; and (iv) the Central Services, Group ‘A’ and Group ‘B’. 

Appointments to the various services will be made according to the number of vacancies available, with due consideration given to the provisions contained in the Rules for the Examination. The number of vacancies reported by the government to be filled is IAS: 180, IFS:38, IPS: 200, Central Services Group A: 473, Group B services: 131=1022.

The top 25 successful candidates comprise 14 women and 11 men, with diverse educational backgrounds representing different streams including science, commerce, medical science, engineering, and the humanities. Some of the candidates with physical disabilities are also on the merit list. Besides, the list of successful candidates includes some of the students from Jammu and Kashmir who made it to the merit list despite the disturbed atmosphere in the region.

Topper 1-Ishita Kishore is a graduate of economics (Delhi). She has actively participated in various sports activities. Topper 2- Garima Lohia, is a Commerce graduate (Delhi), Topper 3- Uma Harathi N, a B.Tech. graduate in Civil Engineering from IIT (Hyderabad), and Topper 4- Smriti Mishra, a B.Sc. graduate (Delhi).

Some of the successful candidates in order of merit are Ishita Kishore, Garima Lohia, Uma Harathi N, Smriti Mishra, Mayur Hazarika, Gahana Navya James, Waseem Ahmad Bhat, Aniruddh Yadav, Kanika Goyal, Rahul Srivastava, Parsanjeet Kour, Abhinav Siwach, Vidushi Singh, Kritika Goyal, Swati Sharma, Shishir Kumar Singh, Avinash Kumar, Siddharth Shukla, Laghima Tiwari, and Anoushka Sharma.
