INDIA: Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren will conduct a majority test today in the special session of the Assembly amid floating allegations against him by the ruling Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM)-led coalition party.

Soren faced allegations of corruption and contention for violating election norms by providing himself with a mining lease. He is likely to be disqualified from the post honorary post of MLA.

If rumours are to be believed, this real tension arose after the Election Commission (EC) gave an opinion to Governor Ramesh Bais, soughing Soren’s disqualification.

The trust vote will take place during the Jharkhand assembly session’s single day. Yesterday, the MLAs and the Chief Minister of Jharkhand met right away. Now, the opposition party wants Hemant Soren to leave “on moral grounds.”

The Election Commission has submitted its opinion to the Governor, and the decision is to be declared anytime soon. Last year, BJP sought Hemant Soren’s disqualification under Section 9(A) of the Representation of People’s Act.

In a media interaction, CM Soren said, “the opposition will be trapped in the traps they have laid for us.” He accused the BJP party of taking advantage of the crisis and bringing down the ruling government as they did in Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh and Karnataka.

According to government sources, the ruling alliance will likely bring the confidence motion in favour of their Chief head in the House today. On the other hand, Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel denied saving the Jharkhand government.

During the ongoing crisis, A 14-year-old pregnant girl was found hanging from a tree in a village in Jharkhand’s Dumka, an alleged case of brutal rape and murder. In context to the case, Hemant Soren answered, “Incidents keep happening. Where do they not occur?” Moreover, the criticism against him triggered more when a 16-year-old Hindu teen was set ablaze in the same district, Dumka, on August 23, by an alleged Muslim stalker.

This entire incident made BJP and Jharkhand opposition leader Babulal Marandi furious. It passed comments against him, saying “is not surprising” that Soran said this about such a serious incident.
