INDIA: According to a report in Indian Express, cricket journalist and historian Boria Majumdar is likely to be banned by the BCCI for two years, during which time he will be barred from entering any stadium in the country. The BCCI will also write to the ICC, requesting that the world body blacklist Majumdar. The announcement comes after a three-member BCCI panel found Majumdar guilty of intimidating India wicket-keeper batter Wriddhiman Saha. The incident was brought to light on February 19 when Saha tweeted a screenshot of his conversation with the journalist in which Majumdar threatened the cricketer to appear in an interview.

“We will notify all state units of the Indian Cricket Board that he will not be permitted inside stadiums.” He will not be granted media accreditation for home matches, and we will also write to the ICC to have him blacklisted. On the condition of anonymity, a top BCCI official told the newspaper, “Players will be asked not to engage with him.”

On 19 Feb 2022, Wriddhiman Saha shared a screenshot of his conversation with alleged Journalist. Wriddhiman Saha tweeted that, “After all of my contributions to Indian Cricket..this is what i face from a so called “Respected” Journalist! This is where the journalism has gone.”

Meanwhile, Majumdar responded to the allegations, claiming that Saha is selectively making some of her tweets public, which distorts the truth. He also stated that he intends to take legal action against the cricketer. Following the incident, several Indian cricketers publicly urged the BCCI to intervene. The Indian cricket board then formed a three-member panel to investigate Saha’s allegation, consisting of vice-president Rajeev Shukla, treasurer Arun Dhumal, and apex council member Prabhtej Bhatia.
