One of his early landmark contributions came in 2010, when he provided coordination and support during the visit of Mr. Donald Tusk, then Prime Minister of Poland, to Bangalore. This visit served as a foundation for further engagements between the two nations.

In 2016, Roy led Kolkata’s Business Delegation to Poland, a move that culminated two years later in the signing of an Agreement of Cooperation (MoU) between the Government of West Bengal and the Silesian Voivodeship in 2018. This MoU established a framework for collaboration across trade, industry, education, and culture marking a milestone in Poland–India relations.

Continuing his efforts to nurture bilateral cooperation, Roy organized and facilitated the visit of the Marshal of Silesian Voivodeship in February 2024, during which the Agreement on Cooperation and Development of Friendly Relations was renewed. This reaffirmed both regions’ commitment to expanding their collaboration.

His dedication to academic and intellectual exchange is equally remarkable. In 2023, Roy founded the Centre for Europe–India Studies, bringing together Polish and Indian academics to explore shared development prospects. Through this initiative, he has helped stimulate research collaborations, knowledge sharing, and cross-cultural understanding.

Joydeep Roy’s Global Footprint in Economic Diplomacy

Roy’s presence in major European business and policy forums further underscores his international standing. Between 2017 and 2023, he served as a panelist at successive sessions of the European Economic Congress in Katowice, one of Europe’s most prestigious platforms for dialogue on economic and industrial cooperation. He also participated in the European Economic Forum 2021 and the European Congress of Small and Medium-sized Enterprises 2023, where he emphasized the potential of Poland–India business synergies.

His contribution to economic diplomacy has been recognized at the highest levels. In February 2024, he was awarded an Honorary Badge by the Regional Chamber of Commerce & Industry (RCCI) in Częstochowa, Poland – a testament to his consistent efforts in fostering cross-border partnerships.

Beyond diplomacy and business, Roy has been actively involved in promoting academic and technical collaboration. He has enabled partnerships between Polish institutions such as Jagiellonian University (Krakow) and Silesian University of Technology (Gliwice) with Indian counterparts. His engagements as a speaker at international platforms like the Polish Mining Congress in Lublin (2025) and the International Workshop on Mining & Post-Mining at Silesian University (2024) highlight his active involvement in knowledge exchange.

Roy’s initiatives also extend to the cultural and intellectual spheres. He initiated discussions with the International Cultural Centre (ICC) in Krakow for cooperation with Indian entities and organized several webinars in collaboration with the Asiatic Society of India, featuring Polish and Indian scholars. These virtual forums have become essential platforms for discussing trade, investment, education, and cultural diplomacy.

During the Bengal Global Business Summit (BGBS) — one of India’s most significant international business events — Roy has handled six high-powered Polish delegations since 2017. In BGBS 2025, he served as Moderator for the Poland Country Session, further strengthening Poland’s engagement with Indian investors and policymakers.

As Joydeep Roy continues to facilitate cooperation across business, academics, and cultural connectivity, his record stands as a testament to how sustained diplomacy at a personal and institutional level can create lasting international relationships.
