Kangana Ranaut to Sue Filmfare Awards for Nominating Her

The association clarified in their official Instagram handle that the actor's assertion was false

INDIA: The controversial Queen of Bollywood, Kangana Ranaut, is well known for her bold and blunt statements. She is sharp and upfront when speaking about the integrity of the Hindi film industry. Filmfare recently nominated the candour actor for the Best Actress category. She got the award proposal for her movie ‘Thalaivi’.

In her statement, she revealed that she received enormous calls from the organisers for attending their award function. However, the actor thinks that it’s ‘beneath her dignity, work ethics and value system to encourage such corrupt practices. She decided to sue the famous leading magazine by moving to court.

The actor besides that took to her Instagram profile. She penned down a lengthy story, following the same statement, “I’ve banned unethical, corrupt and unfair practices like @filmfare since 2014, but since I have been getting many calls from them for attending their award function this year as they want to give me an award for Thalaivii… I am shocked to know that they are still nominating me. It is beneath my dignity, work ethics and value system to encourage such corrupt practices in any way; that is why I have decided to sue @filmfare … thanks.”

In reply to the story, Filmfare’s official Instagram handle shared a lengthy note brushing off all the accusations. The association declared the actor’s asseveration fake, writing, “As is customary during the awards, Filmfare’s Executive Editor informed Ms. Ranaut about her nomination in the Best Actor in a Leading Role, Female category and asked for her address to send across the invitation.”

Any actor besides Kangana would love to be a part of the prestigious award, but the Dhakkad actor is superbly flamboyant and outspoken. Along with Kiara Advani for “Shershaah,” Kriti Sanon for “Mimi,” Parineeti Chopra for “Sandeep Aur Pinky Faraar,” Taapsee Pannu for “Rashami Rocket,” and Vidya Balan for “Sherni,” Ranaut has been nominated in the Best Actress category for a Leading role.
