INDIA: The AAP leader and Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal is accused by Delhi BJP president Virendra Sachdeva of shelling Rs 45 crore on the “renovation” of his bungalow at the peak of COVID-19. The official residence of the Delhi CM is in the city’s Civil Lines area. Now, the saffron party thus seeks Kejriwal’s resignation on “moral” grounds.

However, no official reaction from the AAP party is awaited, the Senior AAP leader Raghav Chadha confirmed that the CM’s residence was constructed 75-80 years ago, in 1942. Thus, the Delhi government’s Public Works Department (PWD), had recommended the renovation after proper auditing.

Moreover, a senior PWD said, “The previous structure has been replaced by a new one; it wasn’t renovated. Also present is his camp office. The cost is approximately Rs 44 crore, although it is important to note that new structures have taken the place of the older ones.”

As per reports, Kejriwal’s accommodations were “added/altered” for a total of Rs 44.78 crore as opposed to the sanctioned amount of Rs 43.70 crore. The documents showed that the money was spent in six halves between September 9, 2020, to June 2022.
