INDIA. West Bengal: Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee criticizes the BJP-led centre, claiming that the saffron party engages in publicity stunts solely to gain popularity. This statement came amid the renaming of islands in Andaman and Nicobar, which was done on the occasion of Subhash Chandra Bose’s 126th birth anniversary.

PM Narendra Modi named 21 islands of the Union Territory after Param Vir Chakra awardees, which were earlier called ‘Shahid’ and ‘Swaraj’ Dweep by Bose.

“Today, only to gain popularity, some are claiming to have given the Andaman islands the names Shahid and Swaraj Dweep, but these islands were given such names by Bose when he had gone there to inspect Cellular Jail,” said Bengal CM Mamata.

The race for Lok Sabha elections has already begun, and every party has buckled up its shoes.

Meanwhile, the BJP kept an eye on the Bengal constituency to win the most seats in the TMC-led state. In the last election, the Mamta Banerjee-led government beat the National Party. This time, the National Party is better prepared and making plans for various plans and proposals.

But, TMC’s grip on the cultural state is as firm as a knot. Banerjee always took advantage of every opportunity to criticise the center’s policies. The Chief Minister of Bengal addressed a program held on the occasion of the freedom fighter’s birth anniversary.

Banerjee attended the Red Road event with Bose’s family and paid tribute to the freedom fighter, raising concerns about scrapping the Planning Commission envisioned by the legendary freedom fighter.

The Modi government initiated the Vande Bharat Express in Bengal last month; however, the current condition of Bengal is raising the eyebrows of every politician because of the current situation.

The newly launched train is attacked brutally by goons, and the windows are smashed, causing harm to government property. This made the centre point the finger at the Bengal government.
