INDIA/AUSTRALIA: Mitchell Starc continues to rehabilitate from a finger injury, and Australia’s fast bowler revealed he will miss the first Test of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy against India.
Last year, the speedster was hurt during the second Test against South Africa and missed the third Test against the Proteas as a result.
Mitchell Starc will miss the test because of his finger injury
When the host of the Australian Cricket Awards questioned Starc for an update on his injury, the 33-year-old cricketer responded, “I still have a few weeks till I meet the guys in Delhi, where I will likely begin my training, after hopefully winning a first Test match.”
On February 9, the Border-Gavaskar Trophy will begin in Nagpur. After that, the teams will travel to Delhi for the second Test, then to Dharamsala for the third Test, and finally to Ahmedabad for the fourth Test.
Starc remained upbeat throughout the Test tour of India and stated that there will be plenty of excellent sports to watch over the ensuing few months.
“The situation in India makes it difficult to predict what to expect, but we have a solid idea of how things will pan out,” Starc said to Erin Holland during an interview at the Australia Cricket Awards.
He added further, “You never really know before the game or when you choose which wicket to play on. Consequently, it will be quite difficult.”
“The team is in the best possible position going into a trip to India. With the women competing for the World Cup and our extensive tour of India, it’s thrilling,” he stated.
“We just hope that Australia has some good luck because there will be plenty of good cricket to enjoy over the upcoming several months,” he concluded.
