INDIA: India is poised to witness an adrenaline-fueled spectacle as it hosts its inaugural MotoGP Bharat event at the Buddh International Circuit from September 22-24. The world-renowned motorcycle racing circuit will see the likes of Francesco Bagnaia, Marc Marquez, Jorge Martin, and Marco Bezzecchi, giants of the sport, line up for what promises to be a historic race.

Having previously played host to three Formula One races between 2011 and 2013, the Buddh Circuit’s resurgence marks a significant milestone in Indian motorsports. Following a tax dispute that curtailed Formula One’s presence, the circuit has now undergone extensive homologation to adapt it for motorcycle racing, earning the ‘type approval’ necessary to host races in this prestigious league.

Organizers are boldly anticipating record-breaking speeds in the MotoGP Bharat. South African rider Brad Binder recently set the bar high, achieving an astounding 366.1 km per hour at the Italian GP in Mugello, surpassing the previous record held by Jorge Martin. Amit Sandill, the director of racing for MotoGP Bharat, expressed confidence in the circuit’s design, particularly its 1006-meter long back straight, poised to propel riders to speeds around 370 kmph.

The parabola or the stadium section on turns 9 and 10 is the perfect camber for riders to slingshot out of the turns and permits them to push their bikes to the limit. The track’s surface gives exceptional grip to the tires, offering riders complete control over their machines. In a bid to fortify safety measures, an additional 1,800 meters of safety barricading has been installed.

Carlos Ezpeleta, the chief sporting officer of Dorna Sports, the organization responsible for managing MotoGP worldwide, lauded the transformation of the Buddh International Circuit.

With its revamped configuration, the Buddh International Circuit is poised to make a mark in MotoGP history, potentially challenging the dominance of Italy’s Mugello track in the realm of speed. This inaugural event promises a thrilling showcase of speed, skill, and precision, capturing the hearts of motorsports enthusiasts both in India and around the globe.
