INDIA: On Monday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi met with President Samia Suluhu Hassan of Tanzania, who is in India for a State visit. In the nation’s capital, at Hyderabad House, Prime Minister Modi had a private meeting with Tanzanian President Hassan. Memorandum of Understanding (MoUs) will be exchanged between the two sides in a number of sectors during the meeting.

The Union Minister of State for Education Annapurna Devi met the President of Tanzania, who is now visiting India at President Droupadi Murmu’s invitation, on Sunday at the Delhi airport.

President Hassan received a ceremonial welcome at the Rashtrapati Bhawan before participating in a wreath-laying ceremony at Rajghat. Hassan admired the strong ties between Tanzania and India and emphasised the potential for new opportunities for their political and economic development.

Tanzania’s President expressed gratitude for the long-standing friendship between the two nations and hoped that this visit would lead to new opportunities for political and economic growth, economic collaboration, and strategic alliances. She also expressed the hope for the long-lasting continuation of the links established by their predecessors.

External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar thanked Tanzania’s President for supporting Prime Minister Modi’s desire to add the African Union as a permanent member of the G20. As per the official statement of the ministry, A presidential visit from Tanzania is taking place after eight years, aiming to rekindle and strengthen the “historic and friendly relations” between India and Tanzania.

Tanzania’s President Hassan will meet with President Droupadi Murmu after bilateral meetings with Prime Minister Modi. Murmu will hold a state banquet in honour of Hassan.

On October 10, Tanzania will attend a business and investment event in Delhi before returning on October 11. The visit is expected to increase defence cooperation between the two nations to a comprehensive strategic alliance.
