INDIA: Ponniyin Selvan: I, the masterpiece of Mani Ratnam’s dream project, became the third-highest-grossing Indian movie of the year, surpassing Ayan Mukherji’s Brahmastra Part 1: Shiva.

The pan-India movie has so far made more than Rs 455 crore worldwide, whereas Brahmastra gathered Rs 431 crore globally.

The film created history as it was the first Sandalwood movie to cross the Rs 200 crore mark in Tamil Nadu on its seventeenth day of release.

The historical movie is based on Kalki Krishnamurthy’s 1955 novel, which touched many hearts. The story revolves around the era of one of the strongest dynasties in the world—the Cholas. The war story is full of suspense and drama. However, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan’s acting is the cherry on top of the cake.

As the role of Aishwarya holds a special command, it gives us a hint of the women behind this mighty empire, their inspiration and thought processes. Moreover, it showed how beauty spells magic in the eyes of kingship and her aura is reflected in different kingdoms.

According to reports, large-scale actors such as M. G. Ramachandran, Kamal Haasan, and Rajinikanth attempted to bring the exclusive novel to the big screen before Mani Ratnam succeeded.

Ponniyin Selvan: II will be released next year in 2023. Fans are holding onto their breaths to watch the next part. The Ponniyin Selvan: I movie is a classic blend of brilliant cinematography, storylining, action and drama.

The wide scream of the movie’s success was shared over the Internet by trade analyst Manobala Vijayan. He wrote on his Twitter, “#PonniyinSelvan ZOOMS past 200 cr milestone at the TN BO today[17th Day]. The first ever film in the history of Kollywood to achieve this GIGANTIC feat”.

The movie, which was announced to be made in the year 1958, found its validation on the silver screen under the supervision of Maniratnam.
