Pune International Film Festival to Commence from March 3

INDIA: The Pune Film Foundation and the Maharashtra government are collaborating to organize the 20th Pune International Film Festival, which will take place between March 3 and March 10.

This year’s theme will be inspired by the birth centenaries of three great people: Bharat Ratna Pandit Bhimsen Joshi, the doyen of Indian Classical Music, Bharat Ratna Satyajit Ray, one of the greatest filmmakers of all time, and Padma Shri Sahir Ludhianvi, an acclaimed poet and lyricist. Dr. Jabbar Patel made the announcement today at a press conference in the city.

Ravi Gupta, Satish Alekar, Abhijit Randive, Samar Nakhate, and Makrand Sathe are among the members of the organizing committee for the 20th Pune International Film Festival.

Talking about the film festival Dr. Jabbar Patel stated, “PIFF 2022 will be held in a hybrid format, as it was last year.” The festival’s online format allows viewers to view approximately 26 films. Filmgoers who want to attend the festival in theatres will be able to see 120 films from various countries.”

“Some special programs based on the theme will be organized during the festival, featuring these stalwarts from fields such as Indian Classical Music, Films, and Poetry.” Dr. Patel said that the 20th PIFF will be dedicated to late Bharat Ratna Lata Mangeshkar.

He further added that the details of these programs will be announced soon.

The online registration for participating in PIFF 2022 will begin from (February 15) through the official website www.piffindia.com. The spot registration will begin on February 17 between 11:00 a.m. and 7:30 p.m. at the festival’s venues this year.

PVR and the Pavilion Mall on Senapati Bapat Road, Cinepolis at the Westend Mall in Aundh, and the NFAI Auditorium on Law College Road are among the venues for PIFF 2022.

During the festival, films will be shown on eight screens at three different locations. When compared to the previous year, there is one additional screen this year.

It should be noted that a separate registration process would be required for the online format and the festival that would be held in theatres. The participation fee for the PIFF online format is Rs.600/- per registration, while the fee for the festival in theatres is Rs.700/- per person.

The rules and regulations established by the State Government and the local administration during the period when PIFF is held must be strictly followed, and they will be posted on the festival website for the benefit of the delegates.
